About us
Family run independent Funeral Directors
Funerals from the Heart recently celebrated ten years of trading. For those of you unfamiliar with the business, we are a family run, Independent Funeral Directors/Undertakers sited at the beautiful Old Railway Inn Pub on Brook Street in Chester.
Mother and Daughter, Janette and Louise generally meet and greet guests coming into the Parlour -we are usually holding a large cup of tea as avid tea drinkers, you are likely to be encouraged to participate in this ritual. Coffee drinkers are welcome too.

Warm and safe enviorment
It was important to us to create a warm and safe space and we are the only funeral home in the area that can hold in-house ceremonies. Our stunning reception room, chapel and wake room offers a comfortable space for families and we often host the complete funeral service – particularly when choosing a civil celebrant or humanist funeral service. The advantages of hosting the service at our premises, is that the pace of the memorial can be slowed down. Poems, readings, songs or prayers can be shared in comfort amongst friends and family with complimentary refreshments on hand. Members of the funeral party too frail or too distraught to move on and attend the final resting place are welcome to remain with staff at the Parlour where they will be comforted and provided with refreshments.
What sets us apart from other local Funeral Directors?
Like most of our competitors we can provide unusual hearses such as horse drawn, bicycle, motorcycle and even an armoured tank! However, we appear to be unique within the local area in our ability to provide far more than an elaborate variety of transport. Funerals from the Heart have a large, beautiful Funeral Parlour that can easily transform its interior layout to suit a particular function or setting. This adaptability is a somewhat different trend to the typical office style of property commonly used by funeral firms.
Full memorial ceremonies can be orchestrated and conducted in the Parlour by either a Minister or Celebrant. These in-house funeral services save weeks of waiting time for burials during busy periods. Recently, Chester Crematorium stopped their chapel being used for burial services, meaning families have to use a Church or hold a grave-side service. In cold, wet weather, graveside services are difficult for elderly and people in poor health. It is possible to host the service in the parlour prior to attending the cemetery for the interment/burial.
Staff can prepare a slide show of photos to be displayed on the screens throughout the Chapel Service and at the Wake venue. The images are saved to DVD disc and given to the family to keep.
Wills and Probate Experts
The business owner Janette has the LLB Bachelor of Laws qualification and specialises in Wills and Probate matters. Professional Wills are drafted for only £50. A free will reading service is available together with free probate guidance.
Prepayment funeral schemes are offered, but, before you are guided through such avenues, staff meticulously check to see if you are entitled to receive funding from alternative sources. Honesty and integrity in protecting potential customers from parting with money unnecessarily is heart-warming and a refreshing change which speaks volumes for our character.
